Blueair Filters

Blueair offer two types of filter:

  • Particle only - for dust, allergens, soot, bacteria
  • Smokestop or Dual Protection Filter - for both particles and chemicals, gases, odours, toxins, smoke.

Please note that use of filters other than those genuine and manufactured by Blueair will void unit warranty.

BLUEAIR FILTERS

A revolutionary combination of advanced filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber makes it possible for the Blueair air purification system to achieve better results than either mechanical or electrostatic technology alone. Most full-size Blueair models feature HEPASilentTM filtration technology, which removes airborne particles down to 0.1 micron in size with a guaranteed minimum efficiency of 99.97% or 3 times better than standard Hepa Filters (0.3micron).

Choose between the standard Blueair Particle Filters to remove dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, mould spores and other airborne particles or Blueair Dual Protection Filters, which are specially designed to remove odours, road fumes, smoke, offgassing, chemical residues, VOCs etc.

Replacing the Blueair filters according to manufacturer recommendations is critical to ensuring that Blueair air purifying systems keep performing as they should.

Easy to replace
When the filter needs to be replaced (typically every few months), simply open the unit, lift out the old filters and slide in the new ones. No screws, hooks or tools and less than one minute is required. Blueair filters require no weekly additives or filter washing.

Recyclable

Used Blueair filters can be disposed of within your recycling.

Patented HEPASilent filter design -

1. Particle Progressive three-stage filter
Thanks to the progressive three-stage structure, Blueair filters capture six times more dirt than other air purifier filters. Blueair filter design resists loading or clogging and continues filtration at peak performance levels longer. Blueair's nontoxic polypropylene filter contains millions of ultra-thin fibres that trap tiny particles as they pass through the pleats. One of the least harmful plastics for human health and the environment, polypropylene works without outgassing or shedding irritating microscopic fibres into the air. It eliminates bacteria, viruses and mould naturally, without chemical additives and also captures more dirt than competitive systems.
Most filters from other air purifier manufacturers are thinner and usually consist of the same size fibre throughout. Blueair filters have millions of ultra-thin fibres in three different sizes, thus the name progressive. The first layer captures larger particles, such as pollen and dust. The second and third layers capture smaller particles, including bacteria, viruses and cigarette smoke.
2. Smokestop Filter
The optional SmokeStop filter uses activated carbon media to trap gases and odours. It is the perfect solution for removal of odours and gaseous pollutants such as wood/tobacco smoke, road fumes or VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds eg household paints, other chemicals).

What are Blueair filters made of?

Standard HEPASilent™ filters incorporate non-toxic polypropylene filter media to trap particles and activated carbon filter media to remove gases. The optional SmokeStop filter adds more carbon for enhanced gas adsorption. The two filter options are otherwise identical in terms of particle filtering ability, filter life and size. Both polypropylene and carbon are recyclable. Polypropylene is a non-toxic fiber with ideal properties for use as a filter media.

Polypropylene is central to the electrostatic filtration component of the Blueair system. Polypropylene molecules readily orient to an electric field. That is, the molecules "feel" a charged particle enter the filter media and turn toward it. This creates a high attraction force, which acts in turn to draw the particle toward the polypropylene fiber where it can be captured.

When compared to standard filter media made of triclosan-coated paper or glass fibers, polypropylene is an ideal material. Because polypropylene is waterproof, Blueair systems need no chemical-based bacteriostats or mold inhibitors. Instead of absorbing the moisture in which bacteria thrive, polypropylene repels water and prevents bacteria, mold and mildew from reproducing inside the filter. Thus, your family can avoid the potential adverse health effects of chemical additives.

Activated carbon adsorbs odors, fumes and other gaseous pollutants implicated in a host of illnesses related to indoor air pollution. Both standard Blueair system filters and advanced SmokeStop filters use activated carbon media; the optional SmokeStop filter has a higher carbon weight that enables it to absorb significantly more gases and odors.
